Description:
It is the intent of the North Carolina Chapter of the ACR to provide practicing radiologists and other health care professionals involved in the diagnosis and treatment of breast diseases with a review to identify current and emerging concepts in breast imaging with an emphasis on practical approaches to both common and uncommon breast diseases; to emphasize the importance of interdisciplinary approaches in the care of breast cancer patients; to identify common malignant breast lesions, unusual breast lesions, principles of imaging guided breast biopsy, and radiologic-pathologic correlation; to apply the most recent ACR BI-RADS(R) Atlas principles of breast composition, primary and secondary features to the interpretation of breast imaging examinations; and, to detail rigorous technique and interpretation standards across all breast imaging modalities, namely digital mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound, and magnetic resonance (MR).
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the American College of Radiology and the North Carolina Radiological Society. The American College of Radiology is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education to physicians.
