The Oncology Care Continuum for Primary Care Providers
Oncology Prevention and Screening: Develop communication skills and methods to: Decrease cancer rates by over 30% through healthy lifestyle choices Recognize the rewards and controversies of individual cancer screening tests
Diagnosis: Foster effective approaches at communicating unexpected news Through preparation and recognizing that emerging emotions are data, learn to offer yourself as a guide, not just a fixer.
Treatment: Understand recent game-changing advances in cancer immunotherapies Provide the non-oncologist with mechanisms, toxicities and results of new era therapies Describe how tumors escape control and the results of PD-1 checkpoint inhibitor therapy Identify specific tumor proteins which can be blocked by molecularly targeted therapies
