Description:
With rapid changes in health care and recent technologic advances, the demand for 'real-time imaging interpretation' 24 hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week has steadily increased. As a result, radiologists in most major health care centers as well as in private practice have been asked to provide after-hours, 'final' interpretations.

This course is specially designed for general and sub-specialized radiologists who are working these non-traditional schedules, including rotating after hours shift work, have dedicated evening and overnight radiology shifts, and take call on weekends. Radiologists on call after hours are often required to interpret studies in areas which are different from their weekday routine. This program will review commonly seen disorders in all the key areas of the body to assist you the next time you are covering a shift outside of your comfort zone.

The discussion will focus on pitfalls you want to avoid and how to search for subtle findings. Over four days, faculty will provide participants with practical information to enhance image acquisition and interpretation skills and identify the best modality for a given clinical presentation. Selected topics within neuroradiology, head and neck imaging, abdominal imaging, musculoskeletal radiology, chest and pediatric radiology will be covered. Daily case conferences and the opportunity to earn SAM credits are included.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
• Rapidly determine the appropriate imaging study to perform in the acute setting
• Identify common and uncommon clinical conditions encountered in the after-hours setting
• Select the correct imaging protocol particularly for pediatric emergencies to optimize diagnostic accuracy and minimize radiation
• Explain how to handle incidental findings and make appropriate management recommendations
